Dr. Dayna Touron
UNCG Adult Cognition Lab Director

Dr. Dayna Touron studies adult age differences in cognitive performance. More specifically, Dr. Touron is interested in the strategies older adults use to complete cognitive tasks and how older adults’ cognitive abilities and metacognitive knowledge influence their strategic approach. When Dayna is not working, she enjoys running, reading, listening to music and spending time with her two children, dog, cat, and gecko!

Jack Kuhns
Graduate Student

Jack is a current PhD student for Dr. Touron. He is predominantly interesting in Cognitive Aging and memory, how prior knowledge affects young and older adults’ memory, metacognition, issues of replicability and reproducibility, applying severe tests to his statistical inferences. Jack received his B.S. from Georgia Tech in 2015 and his M.A. from UNCG in 2018. When he is not working on research, he enjoys playing with his cats, watching TV and movies, and playing around with R.

Paige Kemp
Graduate Student

Paige is a third-year graduate student in the Memory and Cognition Lab. She completed her B.S. in psychology at Stetson University in Deland, Florida. Paige is deeply interested in understanding the mechanisms underlying memory and forgetting processes and how these affect well-being. Outside of her studies, she enjoys playing competitive golf and going on adventurous hikes.

Kayla Ojeda
Lab Manager

Kayla is the current lab manager for the UNCG Adult Cognition Lab. She received her B.A. (2017) and her M.S.(2019) from Central Washington University in Experimental Psychology. On her days off, she enjoys, reading, hiking, swimming, and playing video games with all of her family and friends.

Undergraduate Research Assistants

Amarré Reid

Amarré Reid is a new Research Assistant in our lab. She is a third-year Psychology and Political Science major, with a minor in communications. Her current research interest is how mood impacts individual’s workplace productivity. Outside of academia, Amarré enjoys traveling, visiting new cities, and going to the beach with friends.

Asra Gasem

Asra Gasem is a new Research Assistant in our lab. She is a third-year Psychology major, with minors in Biology and Chemistry. This puts Asra on the Pre-Medical School route. Her current research interest are improving attention span for better learning in both younger and older adults. Other topics include memory, working memory, perception, and long-term memory. When Asra is not working or going to class, she enjoys traveling with her family and friends. She also enjoys taking a deeper dive into history and religion through learning about the Holy Quran and Holy Bible.
