Student Clubs

Psi Chi and the Psychology Club are academic groups devoted to professional development. We focus on the “outside the classroom” skills that are essential when it’s time to apply for competitive jobs, internships, and grad-school spots. For example, we hold workshops about understanding graduate school, writing good personal statements, finding opportunities for research experience, and crushing interviews for jobs and grad schools.

We also invite guest speakers from UNCG and the Greensboro community to talk about popular career options in psychology that many PSY majors haven’t considered. Recent and upcoming speakers, for example, have described careers in industrial-organizational psychology, social work, school psychology, and addictions counseling.

UNCG Psi Chi

Psi Chi is the International Honors Society for Psychology. There are some membership requirements, described below. Students who don’t yet meet the requirements for Psi Chi should join the Psychology Club. The two groups do all their activities together, and it is never too early to focus on networking and professional development.

UNCG has a large and energetic Psi Chi chapter—one of the most active in the Southeast—and we invite you to join us. Our chapter was founded in 1958 as Chapter #125. We’re among the oldest Psi Chi chapters and take pride in our long-standing heritage of academic and professional excellence.

As recognition of our work, UNCG has received two Model Chapter Awards from Psi Chi—for the 2017-2018 and 2019-2020 academic years—a rare honor received by fewer than 4% of Psi Chi chapters worldwide.

We’re a mix of two groups—the Psi Chi chapter and the Psychology Club—so we often call ourselves the Psi Chi/Psyc Club.

Our events and meetings are also announced via Canvas through the Psi Chi group and the Psychology Majors group.
