Mendez is a licensed psychologist and a core member of the APA-accredited graduate training program in Clinical Psychology in the department. She has expertise in parenting, school readiness, and at-risk child populations. Her current research, supported by the Department of Health and Human Services, is a three-year project examining parent involvement and school readiness of children from English Language Learner families.
