Undergraduate

Our undergraduate program will provide you with exceptional breadth in training in terms of classroom based experiences and community engaged learning experiences. A rigorous undergraduate curriculum with foundational courses in all areas of psychology including biological, cognitive, social, developmental, and clinical psychology, as well as specialized seminars. You can also gain strong research training, with close supervision and experiences working in research laboratories, as well as internships in community placements to obtain valuable work experience on the path toward pursuing their next steps after graduation.

B.A. in Psychology

We offer broad training in psychology that can prepare students for the working world and graduate training in most major branches of psychology.  The BA in Psychology provides specialized training in the major areas of psychology, including clinical psychology, cognitive psychology, social psychology, personality psychology, developmental psychology, biological psychology, and quantitative and research skills.

B.S. in Psychology

We offer broad training in psychology that can prepare students for the working world and graduate training in most major branches of psychology.  The Psychology Major for the Bachelor of Science degree serves students who want additional training in science, math, statistics, and research methods relative to the Bachelor of Arts degree.

Academic Advising

An advising Canvas website along with a team of advisors will guide you through our major. Our Canvas course covers all of the information you need to learn about our major, consider your educational goals relative to your career goals, explore facets of psychology, and build a plan towards graduation. You can also reach advisors on psyadvise@uncg.edu as well as through group advising.

Research Opportunities

We offer strong research training available at the undergraduate level, with close supervision and experiences working in research laboratories studying a variety of topics, including child development, depression, memory and learning, psychopathology, and biological bases of behavior.

Honors Requirements

Our honors program enables students to participate in novel seminars that are not available in the general curriculum and to pursue rigorous research opportunities that are similar to those offered in graduate or professional schools.

Study Abroad

The Department of Psychology participates in Study Abroad Programs offered through the International Programs Center at UNCG.  Students can immerse themselves in a new cultural context while also earning PSY, GEC, language, or elective credits toward their degrees.

Student Clubs

Psi Chi and the Psychology Club are academic groups devoted to professional development. We focus on the “outside the classroom” skills that are essential when it’s time to apply for competitive jobs, internships, and grad-school spots.
