Fifth year clinical graduate student Kaitlin Quick (Faculty mentor: Dr. Julia Mendez Smith) has a new publication in Frontiers in Psychology. Titled “Parental/caregiver racial-ethnic socialization during early childhood: A meta-ethnographic review,” this work suggests that racial-ethnic socialization strongly contributes to general parenting practices and family dynamics. This work extends the racial-ethnic socialization literature. Whereas much work has examined racial-ethnic socialization during adolescence, Quick’s work expands the literature by examining it during during early childhood. This extension of the literature is important given that racial-ethnic socialization is a lifelong process. This work also reflects a graduate student milestone because this paper resulted from Quick’s comprehensive exam. Co-authors include Dr. Julia Mendez Smith (UNCG Psychology), Dr. Michaeline Jensen (UNCG Psychology) and Dr. Stephanie Coard (UNCG HDFS).

Congratulations, Kaitlin!
