Graduate alumna Dr. Micah Mazurek will return to the Department of Psychology in November, 2014 to discuss her research on understanding and improving outcomes for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Mazurek earned her PhD in clinical psychology at UNCG in 2004 under the direction of Dr. Susan Keane. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Psychology at the University of Missouri.

Mazurek has enjoyed tremendous success in her research program on treatment outcome assessment and social, emotional, and behavioral functioning in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Among a number of awards, she recently received a National Institutes of Health Research Project Grant valued at over 3 million dollars. The focus of the project is to develop and validate a new tool, the Autism Impact Measure (AIM), which can detect incremental changes in ASD symptoms over short-term periods.
