The department will hold its final event of the “She Can We Can” series on February 18, 3 – 5 pm, on Zoom. Dr. Cecilia Ayón, Professor of Public Policy at the University of California, Riverside, will give a talk titled “Ella Puede, Nosotros Podemos: Towards Equity and Hope in Immigration Issues.”

In the spirit of  the centennial of the women’s suffrage movement, we highlight one of the civil rights issues of our day: the inequities experienced by immigrants, children of immigrants and immigrant communities. A keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Cecilia Ayón, whose impactful work examines factors that promote or hinder the well-being of Latino immigrant families. The keynote will be followed by a panel discussion and breakout groups with leaders of local immigrant-serving organizations. This virtual event is free and open to the public. All Greensboro community members (and beyond) are welcome and encouraged to attend. ¡Todos están bienvenidos!
