Two Psychology Department faculty have won the two highest research awards at UNCG. Dr. Michael Kane was named this year’s recipient of the UNCG Senior Faculty Research Excellence Award. His research program centers on attention and working memory, with particular emphasis on individual differences using a variety of methodologies (experimental, correlational, experience sampling).
Dr. Paul Silvia was named this year’s recipient of the UNCG Junior Faculty Research Excellence Award. His research centers on self-awareness, the emotion of interest and other aesthetic emotions, and creativity. Silvia is also the author of the influential “How to Write a Lot: A Practical Guide to Academic Writing”, among other works.
This is the first time that two faculty from the same department have won both awards in the same year. Kane and Silvia will be featured in an upcoming issue of the UNCG Research Magazine.
